When you arrive in Turku at around 1:30pm, you will meet with your guide and then get ready to have a great day out in this historical city. During the city tour you will see the main city square and the city hall, the Turku Cathedral, beautiful parks, interesting monuments, statues and much more.

The Castle and Cathedral are the two poles of historic Turku, between which just about every important site in the city can be found.

The fortress of Turku Castle has stood at the edge of the river Aura since the 1280s. During its history, it has been a defensive bastion, a majestic court, an administrative centre, a prison, a storehouse and a barracks. Nowadays, the castle is a must-see tourist attraction in Finland.

After the guided tour you will have free time to do some shopping or you can rest. The return train departs Turku at 18:30. You will arrive to Helsinki at 20:23 where you will transfer back to your hotel.

Quickly after the declaration of independence in December 1917, internal tensions tore the country apart and the Finnish Civil War broke out. Everyone was divided into either the Red or White army. The Soviet Union was supporting the Reds and Germany supported the Whites. April 1918 was the turning point of the war. This private walking tour takes you to the decisive moments and reveals the human stories of that time. This was the only war that was fought on the streets of Helsinki. The marks of war are still visible throughout Helsinki.

This private walking tour stars from the Mannerheim Statue in central Helsinki, right next to the Museum of Modern Art, Kiasma, at a time that has been pre-arranged between you and the guide. Hotel pickup close to the starting place can be also arranged on request.

The tour duration is approximately 2 hours. You will move on foot and part of the route includes stairs. The walking distance is not very long and doesn't require particular fitness.
